Since the release of 2000's X-Men, Lee has popped up in most Marvel movies in some form or fashion, and 94 years of age, he isn't showing any signs of letting go of his Cameo King title. As for why he enjoys making these appearances, Lee attributes it to fulfilling that childhood desire to be an actor. Lee explained:
It's fun. For about 12 seconds, I feel like I'm an actor. Every kid wants to be an actor. When I was a kid, I thought, 'Oh, it'd be great to be like Errol Flynn. I want to be an actor.' So I do my cameo. For that brief period, I'm an actor.

His appearances have ranged from drinking a bottle of poisoned soda in The Incredible Hulk to being a FedEx driver in Captain America: Civil War. He most recently appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as an informant for The Watchers, and it was there that it was confirmed that he's been playing the same character in all the MCU movies. He's also graced a few Marvel TV shows, too, like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter.
